I’m in the midst of working on Gaming Grindr, a book on the popular and mildly infamous cruising app from the perspective of a game designer. 

After all, many people treat Grindr like a game already, so it’s worth wondering what the app has in common with games like Texas Hold’ Em or Farmville? I’ll be examining how the location-based service works and doesn’t work—especially compared to upstarts like Scruff, Hornet, and Jack’d—what could users be doing to “win,” and how it has changed the behaviour of its four million users.
